Admittedly, I am not much of a drinker. So, I wasn’t too surprised when I came across this recipe and realized that I had never heard of a “shandy.” Have you heard of this term?
Wikipedia defines a shandy as, “beer mixed with a soft drink, lemonade, carbonated lemonade, ginger beer, ginger ale, or apple juice.” It also explains that, “the proportions of the two ingredients are adjusted to taste, usually half-and-half. Non-alcoholic shandies are known as “rock shandies”. Shandies are more popular in western Europe than other parts of the world.” I guess that explains it. Those of us in the USA aren’t as familiar with shandies as our friends in Europe. After trying one, I have to say that we are missing out!! Try it and let me know what you think!
